Frequent Cases
Wisdom Teeth:
Prevent or Cure?
They usually emerge between 18 and 25 years old. Due to human evolution, today they often lack space to align in the jaw.
If not extracted in time, they can cause inflammation (pericoronitis), crowding of the front teeth, or cavities in adjacent molars as they are impossible to clean correctly.
Reasons for extraction:
- Lack of space in the jaw
- Avoid infections and bad breath
- Prevention of cysts or damage to the neighboring molar
- As part of the Orthodontic plan
FAQ
Questions about Oral Surgery
Will I feel pain during surgery?
No. We use state-of-the-art local anesthesia to ensure the area is completely numb. Additionally, our Dr. Ana Padilla applies delicate surgical techniques to minimize trauma and ensure a comfortable postoperative period.
Is it always necessary to extract wisdom teeth?
Not always, but in most cases. We recommend it when there is not enough space, when they cause pain, recurrent infections, or when they can displace the rest of the teeth.
How long does the recovery process take?
It depends on the complexity, but it is normal for discomfort to subside in 2-4 days. We will give you a detailed care and medication protocol so that your recovery is as fast as possible.
What is the postoperative period?
It is the period after surgery. It includes biting on gauze to stop initial bleeding, applying local cold to reduce inflammation, and following a soft and cold diet for the first 24 hours.
Can I smoke after an extraction?
We strongly recommend not smoking for at least 48-72 hours, as smoke and suction hinder healing and drastically increase the risk of infection (alveolitis).
